On May 19th 1906 the Green, after being relayed by John Spry, was opened by J.   W. Arrowsmith and the Sheriff of Bristol. This is the programme of the occasion.

The following is a summary of all our matches between 1894 and 1993 compiled

by George Allen. He must have spent hours on this endeavour.

The date of this photo is unknown but the benches round the green were given to the club in 1937.

This cutting is from the Evening Post in 1913.

These competitions were not mixed, the Ladies having their own competition and the men theirs.

They played Fixed Jack games.

There are two chances to try out the sport of lawn bowls at high profile venues which have connections with two of the most distinguished exponents -  Dr W. G. Grace and David Bryant CBE. W.G the fearsomely bearded cricketer who was the first President of the English Bowling Association in 1903, used to play at Bristol Arrow, who are the oldest club in Bristol. The club holds an Open Day on Saturday, and will welcome visitors from 10.30 am.  ‘All ages are welcome’ says club stalwart Ann White.

The club’s youngest member, Charlie Haynes, has been included in Gloucestershire’s 2017 Under 25 Middleton Cup squad, while 18-year-old Matt Bartlett is vice-captain of the club.

The club can be found next to Bannatynes Leisure Centre at the bottom of Redland Road.
